Young Scholars of the Miwest in Ancient Philosophy (YSMAP, pronounced "iz-map") is a research group to support faculty working in Ancient Philosophy at the many universities dotting the US Midwest. Our goal is to provide a supportive nevironment for sharing work in progress, receiving feedback, and creating community.
We exchange work-in-progress and meet two to three times each semester to discuss papers. Most members of our group focus on figures in the Greek tradition, but some also work on the Roman traditions and perform comparative work on non-Western philosophy. If you are faculty working on Ancient Philosophy, broadly construed, at a university in the Midwest, please consider joining the group. You can contact Joshua Mendelsohn or Freya Mobus.
